溫斯頓·倫納德·斯賓塞·丘吉爾(1874年11月30日—1965年1月24日)，英國曆史學家、政治家、畫家、演說家、作家、記者。1940—1945年、1951—1955年期間曾兩度任英國首相，被認爲是20世紀最重要的政治領袖之一，帶領英國獲得第二次世界大戰的勝利。1929年至1965年臨終，連續36年擔任英國布里斯托大學校長。他的《不需要的戰爭》獲1953年諾貝爾文學獎，著有《第二次世界大戰回憶錄》6卷、《英語民族史》4卷等。是歷史上掌握英語單詞詞彙量最多的人之一(十二萬多)，被美國雜誌《展示》列爲近百年來世界最有說服力的八大演說家之一，曾榮獲諾貝爾和平獎提名。2002年，BBC舉行了一個名爲“最偉大的100名英國人”的調查，結果丘吉爾被獲選爲有史以來最偉大的英國人。
