河東獅吼(2002年電影)取材自大家耳熟能詳的民間故事「河東獅吼」，講述古代小男人陳季常和潑辣妻子柳月娥的事蹟，粵劇和電視劇已經拍過無數次。由於韓片《我的野蠻女友》在港大行其道，講述女強男弱的電影確實富有市場需要。不過編導不是要把這個故事完完整整重拍，而是僅僅取其人物角色和時代背景，再加以改篇「現代化」，改造成一出甚富時代氣息的古裝流行喜劇。
