《海上鋼琴師》劇情介紹：男主角1900(人名)是一個被人遺棄在蒸汽船上的孤兒，被船上一位好心的燒爐工收養，然而燒爐工在男主角8歲的時候在意外中死亡。過人的天賦使他無師自通成了一名鋼琴大師，但宿命也令他天然地對紅塵俗世深懷戒意。縱使後來遇上了一位一見鍾情的`少女，他思量再三後，還是放棄了上岸尋找初戀情人的衝動。他永遠地留在船上了，即使到了最後，唯一的好朋友馬克斯警告他廢船將要被炸燬，他也不願離開，於是從出生開始就沒有離開過維吉尼亞號的1900直至與船葬於海底。
