《國王的演講》故事主角就是上個世紀三四十年代的英國王子喬治六世，他的哥哥愛德華王儲“不愛江山愛美人，爲了迎娶辛普森夫人不惜退位，而自小害羞、口吃的喬治六世只能繼承王位，於是他開始了與口吃的艱難抗爭，並求助於醫生萊納爾·羅格，兩人在治療的過程中建立了深厚的友誼。喬治六世最終通過廣播發表了一篇鼓舞人心的聖誕節演講，號召英國人反抗法西斯，激勵了二戰中英國人民的鬥志。
這部獲得了奧斯卡最佳電影的片子顯得與衆不同，既沒有深刻的內涵，也沒有緊張的劇情，卻像一杯清茶一樣溫暖人心，讓人回味無窮。男主角Colin Firth的`演繹細膩優雅，把喬治六世內心的自信與自卑糾纏，堅韌盡責，卻無奈被口吃禁錮的高貴的靈魂完美展現出來。
